Der Neubau des Fraunhofer-Instituts für Kognitive Produktionssysteme (CPS) in Dresden mit seiner klaren, funktionalen Architektur und der Fassadenbegrünung durch die Pfeifenwinde (Aristolochia) bildet den konzeptionellen Ausgangspunkt der Arbeit PhytoTwin, die biologische Resilienz und Anpassungsfähigkeit mit Forschungsinhalten verbindet. Aus der Morphologie der Pflanze entwickelte sich eine polygonale Blütenskulptur aus grauweiß beschichtetem Aluminium, ergänzt durch einen grafischen „digitalen Schatten“, die gemeinsam als visuelle Schnittstelle zwischen Natur, Technik, Bionik und digitaler Modellierung fungieren. Das Werk übersetzt die Prinzipien des „Digitalen Zwillings“ und des „Digitalen Schattens“ in eine sinnlich erfahrbare Form und markiert den Eingangsbereich als prägnantes Zeichen der Forschungsfelder Robotik, Sensorik und Prozessoptimierung. |

The new building of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cognitive Production Systems (CPS) in Dresden, with its clear, functional architecture and facade greening with pipevine (Aristolochia), forms the conceptual starting point for the PhytoTwin project, which combines biological resilience and adaptability with research content. The morphology of the plant gave rise to a polygonal flower sculpture made of gray-white coated aluminum, complemented by a graphic “digital shadow,” which together function as a visual interface between nature, technology, bionics, and digital modeling. The work translates the principles of the “digital twin” and the “digital shadow” into a form that can be experienced sensually and marks the entrance area as a striking symbol of the research fields of robotics, sensor technology, and process optimization.
