Award and realization according to „Kunst am Bau“ - competition

The work captivates through its highly unusual and fresh visual language, especially through its commanding placement in space, which creates an exciting contrast to the rational architecture. The round cloud shapes also create a charming contrast with the angular letters. The object fits into the airspace of the building with humorous lightness and subtlety and establishes a loose contextual reference to the use of the building. Form and content thus complement each other harmoniously. As an appeal to mental agility and through its positive presence, the work gives rise to hopes of an enriching experience for users. The design is unanimously convincing.

Assessment of the competition jury

The sculpture made of brass and coated stainless steel hangs freely in the central stairwell and is inspired by the aesthetics and symbolism of comic culture. Sounds and the accompanying movements in comic drawings are usually visualised with the help of lettering, in which the sounds are conveyed by a sequence of letters. Onomatopoeia, the linguistic imitation of extra-linguistic sounds, establishes a humorous reference to the building and its use.
