1,5 Kubikmeter Sturm präsentiert die unfassbare Naturgewalt des Tornado von Großenhain am 24.05.2010. Aus dem Zentrum seines Wütens werden 1,5 Kubikmeter Rauminhalt eingefroren und rekonstruiert. In einem sechsseitigen Quader „schweben“ Gegenstände chaotisch durcheinander, die der Sturm mit sich gerissen hat und durch die Luft wirbelt. Eisbälle, Dachziegel, Blätter, Äste, Müll und Plastikflaschen bilden ein chaotisches Gefüge.Doch das scheinbar chaotisch angeordnete Material folgt einer besonderen Ordnung. Am Jahrestag des Tornado, um 16.00 Uhr - der Uhrzeit an dem der Sturm durch Großenhain tobte - fügen sich bei Sonnenschein die Schatten der einzelnen Gegenstände am Boden der Installation, zu den deutlichen Lettern des Datums „24.05.2010“ zusammen.

Nicht nur die durch die Luft wirbelnden Dinge, sondern auch die funktionale Verknüpfung der Skulptur mit dem Stand der Sonne, erinnert uns an die Macht und die Regeln von Natur und Naturgewalten, mit denen wir immer öfter konfrontiert werden. Nicht zuletzt, wenn zur Stunde zu der sich das Datum des katastrophalen Naturereignisses als Schatten abbilden soll, der Himmel mit Wolken verhangen ist.

1.5 Kubikmeter Sturm presents the inconceivable force of nature that was the Großenhain tornado on 24 May 2010. 1.5 cubic metres of space are frozen and reconstructed from the centre of its fury. In a six-sided cuboid, objects that were carried away by the storm and whirled through the air "float" chaotically. Ice balls, roof tiles, leaves, branches, rubbish and plastic bottles form a chaotic structure, yet the seemingly chaotically arranged material follows a particular order. On the anniversary of the tornado, at 4 p.m. – the time when the storm raged through Großenhain – the shadows of the individual objects on the floor of the installation come together in the sunshine to form the clear letters of the date "24/05/2010".

Not only the things whirling through the air, but also the functional link between the sculpture and the position of the sun remind us of the power and rules of the forces of nature with which we are increasingly confronted: particularly when the sky is covered with clouds at the hour when the date of the catastrophic natural event is supposed to appear as a shadow.
